Superstar Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets won his third Most Valuable Player award on Wednesday, solidifying his status as one of the greatest NBA players of all time.
Jokic, a center for the Philadelphia 76ers, defeated Joel Embiid to win the MVP title for the third time in his four seasons. Jokic triumphed against Oklahoma City Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic, who placed second and third in the vote, respectively.
Nikola Jokic’s Reaction
“I can’t do anything without my teammates,” Jokic said on TNT on Wednesday after his MVP victory. “Coaches, players, organization, medical staff, strength coaches, development coaches. It is all one big circle. But I cannot be whatever I am without them.”
Jokic easily won his third MVP award. He received 926 points overall and 79 votes in the first spot. Gilgeous-Alexander scored 640 points and 15 votes in the first spot. Doncic received 566 points and four votes at the first spot. Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks came in fourth place, while guard Jalen Brunson of the New York Knicks came in fifth.
Regarding the MVP competition, Jokic said, “There are a lot of players that deserve it.” “It’s probably details and the small things [that determine it].”

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was the last center to win three MVPs in four seasons (1973–1974), and Nikola Jokic is the first in sixty years to accomplish this feat.

As the reigning NBA champions placed second in the Western Conference, he became only the second player to finish with more than 2,000 points, 900 rebounds, and 700 assists in a regular season.

Personal Life
In his early years in Denver, Jokic shared an apartment with his then-girlfriend and his two older brothers, Nemanja (born 1984) and Strahinja (born 1982). On October 24, 2020, in his hometown of Sombor, Jokić tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend, Natalija Mačešić. The couple welcomed a daughter into the world in September 2021.
